Priscilla Queen of the Desert

Monday 23rd March 2009 sees the opening of the musical version of the camp classic film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The story of three drag queens and a bus has become legendary within the gay community of Australia. The film, and the musical, has had quite a cultural impact as they revolve around issues usually left on the outskirts of society.

The story is one of friendship, love and comedy as the group trek to the Australian outback as they take their performance on tour. The musical is fun and upbeat with disco classics such as I will Survive, Colour My World, Don’t Leave me the Way and Shake Your Groove Thing. The musical is both fun and feel good which has resulted in it causing such a sensation. Priscilla Queen of the Desert is set to cause the same buzz when it opens at the Palace Theatre on London’s West End.

The stage performance on the West End is rumoured to star Jason Donovan. However, it has been stated that the cast are subject to change until the performance begins as nothing can be guaranteed until opening night. However the cast is though, it is sure to be a hit performance.
