Grease

Grease is one of the longest running shows in the history of New York’s Broadway and London’s West End theatres. Its success has spanned from 1971 on Broadway and 1973 within the West End. The musical has never failed to entertain audiences and has confidently stood the test of time as it remains entertaining and relevant in today’s society. The West End’s current performance of Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre which continues to produce sell out shows is the perfect example of the timeless nature of this classic show. The interest in the musical has undoubtedly continued for such a length of time thanks to the massively popular film that was made following the musical in 1979.

The musical includes hit songs such as Greased Lightening, Look at me I’m Sandra Dee and Summer Nights that continue to wow the audiences. The musical tells the story of a group of high school students in 1959. The story follows a group of girls, the pink ladies, and a group of boys, the T-Birds, as they deal with adolescence and the dramas that come with being at high school. The musical involves a variety of characters and approaches issues of class and gender. The musical is both fun and frivolous and moving at the same time.

The show has been updated for the stage so that the experience will be new for those who have already seen the movie. Overlooking this update has been Eleanor Bergenstein who has added some scenes that only improve the famous story, with the overall spirit remaining untouched.

So Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story Live On Stage is the perfect treat for those who have seen the hit movie and even for those that haven’t!
